Numerous bumblebee workers sleeping outside overnight on flowers- i.e. their workplace!
When out foraging, there is a very fine balancing act for them to undertake. Find and take for their own use enough fuel (nectar) for energy sapping flying, then carry a heavy load of pollen and/or nectar back to the nest. What happens if worker bumblebees miscalculate their energy reserves, weight of load, distance to nest, are either too tired for the journey back to their nest or suddenly it starts to rain, becomes windy or turns rather cool. What do they do? See for yourself!
