Organic Gardening the Natural No-Dig Way
At the very start of my organic gardening life, I was fortunate to come across Jack Temple’s book ‘Gardening without Chemicals’. I mixed that with Geoff Hamilton’s raised deep bed gardening ‘Gardeners World Vegetable book’ and a HDRA booklet about raised beds and off I went experimenting, reading, experimenting.
Eventually you forget the ‘rules’ and carve out your own style and methods of gardening. Mine ended up being wildlife gardening, with an organic raised bed no- dig method of growing my vegetables, with a passion for worm composting and garden composting.
More recently I had heard about Charles Dowding and his particular method of no-dig gardening. I bought his book some years ago and found it offered not only his style of organic no-dig gardening, (though not as highly raised beds as I do myself), but useful practical information about sowing seeds, raising plants, summer and winter salads, herbs, edible flowers, fruits, making compost, recipes and much more. Its enjoyable to read as well!
