Red mason bee male’s first view of the outside world as a bee! video

His first tentative look outside revealed a dull, breezy and cold day. What a welcome to your new life! The day before he started to chew his way out when it was sunny and a little warmer. He decided to stay put inside his cocoon once the sun went behind the clouds in the early afternoon and it cooled. The next morning he started again, slowly, taking considerable time to crawl out of his cocoon. Once outside his cocoon, again he took some considerable time to warm up inside the nest box. Eventually he would have to replenish his deleting fat reserves so hunger would force him out.
